I enjoy people like this.

i enjoy hugs.

Arms are for hugging.
Boys are for kissing.
Sluts are for dissing.
Friends are for when the boy
is kissing the slut and all you
really need is a hug.

364 days...

christmas break guilty pleasures 2010:
wearing leggings.. by themselves.
online shopping.
snuggling up by my fireplace.
m&ms + OJ.
reading.
photoshop.
trying on lots of beanies.. its winter!
watching harry potter.
watching movies.
not answering texts.
being by myself.
taking lots of pictures.
not matching!
cooking with my new apron.
laughing.. at myself.
smelling the tree.
smelling the tree.
giving dirty looks to my mother.. because she tells me to stop smelling the tree.

what are your christmas guilty pleasures?
we all have them.

oh.. and check this out, I vote yes.

Saturday, December 25

floating on air.

christmas is definitely the best day of the year. Watching christmas carol with all three brothers sleeping over in your room, drinking egg nog and white elephants, gradually moving up the line because we walk up the stairs shortest to tallest (I used to go last, now i'm almost first.), finally all those hours of shopping amounting to two seconds of joy in the recievers face.
oh. and christmas casserole.
i believe this christmas is one of the best I've had.
THANK YOU.

*posted on my macbook air... I know right?
Shut up... thats what I said too.
college is getting closer everyday.
you can see it in my eyes.

Friday, December 24

oh the weather outside is frightful.

So that is why I take getting ready to play in the snow: very seriously.

first: ear flap hat.
straight from canada, i have a plaid one,
very similar to this. Having fur around the ears and the
option to click it together really helps keep in the warmth.

next weapon of choice: green snowboarding jacket.
under this jacket i usually wear a thermal (waffle) shirt.
I also find the biggest gloves I can.
just so i can try and look like the *abomidable snowman.
*spelling was made up.

bottom half: jegging thermal things.
I got these last year for when i went skiing. (one time.)
but they are lined with fuzzy satin i swear. so warm and comfy.
Since the bottom half gets the coldest I usually toss in some
PJ pants and sweats too. triple layer never hurt.

Feet: triple layer sock action & sparkly rain boots.
usually people wear snow boots. but I have this thing against wet feet.
so I create my own fuzzy inside with 3 (yes, three.) pairs of socks.
then my black sparkly babe-alicious rain boots.
you should try some.
the weather outside is frightful. except when you're prepared.*
*sound familiar? like second coming or something...

Tuesday, December 21

an ode to the tabernacle.

The Provo Tabernacle.
I loved seeing this building every time I drove down historic Provo.
But I'm excited to see what the church does with it. I pray that it will
be stable enough to be restored a little bit.
ahh, and what a cool story:
this picture was taken down from the wall with everything burned,
except our savior in the middle.
it gives me the chills.

Sunday, December 19

days of doom and despair. Thats today.
But I am determined it is going to turn out better.
Would it be bad to go to sleep for the night at 4 in the afternoon?

I hope Kassie is feeling alright. I have her DNA on me... and I'm comfortable with it because I know its clean. Its probably just hand sanitizer with a couple white cells.

I also have Ryans blood on me.. I am not so sure about his.

word.

i want to be an indian for halloween. real bad.
i got this book from the library.
and i, kati briggs, made some cupcakes from scratch.
i folded, blended, added the liquids to the powders
i even whisked eggs until stiff peaks formed.
i found out that baking is hard.
and my cupcakes.. were dissapointing.
unless you like cakes where the
chocolate chips have sunk to the bottom.

rob and big? hilarious. "the time traveling machine doesn't work. do you think there is a weight limit on this thing? it might be hard to get 390 lbs to 1972."

"Ahh! i just hotdogged my phone!"
"-they were supposed to be doing the dirty dirt. then the table broke. -oh. so.. they were making out on the table?"
"that's not fair. you don't even go to sleep."
"brandon? will you drive us closer to the sun?"
"i know! quickly!"
"we are a FREAKING FAMILY"

i would argue that this is one of the most epic photos
taken with a phone camera... e'er.
any one agree? say I.

those are our vikings. at the riverton game.

friday night lights, with the team and the rainbow to top it off.

i adore pleasant grove.

Monday, August 30

girls soccer, or date.

girls soccer game. VS. american fork tomorrow.
only, there's a twist.
When we win, Alyssa, Bekah and I will be embarking on a traditional date. paid for by the gentlemen of american fork.
but if the case were that we were to slip up.. we would be paying and planning for a good time. bring it on AF.

also, girls volleyball? first game babe. be there 6:30 in the A-Gym.

to the windowwwww.......

Sunday, August 29

who has time for breakfast?

arrive at school tomorrow, anytime between 7:10 and 7:40.

there will be doughnuts involved.

Friday, August 27

dear weekend,

I am glad you are here.
lets go through the day of a normal viking student. in other words, yours truly.

I start with the morning ritual: read the scriptures, do the hair, throw together an outfit, the usual. then i snag my yogurt and practically skip to daphne. (take note: i am in a good mood. it will come into play later.) i listen to cory and keetch in the morning, who enjoy talking about gandy's and replacing student body presidents.

i speed walk to class because its written into the schedule. i have the time down to a science and usually find myself showing up at exactly 7:42. giving me 30 seconds in the classroom before the bell screams at me. i head into the seminary building and analyze the list with all of the other hopeful seminary students. taggart, fossum, browne, whimpey. there i am. i walk into the class room and i stand there stunned. i thought the lord knew better than to put sidney and i in the same class. going to be a fun year!

i spent second period organizing the student council room. get this picture: small room, by myself. i may or may not talk out loud to solve my organizational problems.

statistics is going to kill me. end of story. my teacher constantly reminds us that he is only 3 class periods ahead of us. i resorted to tally marks in order to create a histogram. its only the second day people.

lunch used to be the best time of the day. still is.
but now i feel like it is just more torture before we go home.
today was different though. check out what cade got.. for the price of one lunch.

MEGA PIZZA.
and ryan was testing out his squinty eyes. or something of that sort.

photo is going to be fun. its a super basic class, but today we watched a movie and i almost fell asleep. thats a weakness of mine: falling asleep in movies.

then i mix and mingle in the halls (because thats what teenagers do) and make my way out to daphne. i throw my junk in the car and head home. then i dump all my belongings everywhere because i'm too tired to do anything else. when i'm lucky, i take a quick catnap

now onto better things:

the poor choir kids have gotten the short end of the stick this year. homecoming is over shakespeare festival and chamber retreat. then, sweethearts is the closing night of phantom of the opera. oh? can't get much worse than that? prom is during choir tour.
not to fret. prom is most likely being changed. april 30th is the date in mind.
also, sweethearts is in the process of being resolved.
what a nightmare.

we play riverton tonight. we can beat them, i mean come on, they're purple.

i'm super excited for the assembly on tuesday. and you should be too.

Wednesday, August 25

don't you fret,

a review of sophomore day is coming soon. and perhaps some review of the first day, (my 12th first day. no biggie.)

oh. and also a review of welcome week. assembly on tuesday, j.wride concert on wednesday, thats all i can think of, off the top of my head. be there.

i just realized i, overuse, commas, quite, often. i'm pretty sure thats a violation of the rules.

i wish i could make posters like him.
but he's for the bruins.
look familiar anyone?
i'm excited for school. inside jokes waiting to be made.
i'm also excited for this... football.
oh nothing big...
just a sneak peak to the big secret!
be to the assembly on tuesday. you will definitely
not want to miss it.

Sunday, August 22

worth a thousand words.

This month has been filled with..
riding in army vehicles..

feeding the football team..
anonymous cookies..
(if your out there, those were the best cookies ever. thanks.)
little brothers preparing for football..
cute right?
insanely spirited viking men..
oh the joys of student council videos..
poster making..
courtney is brilliant.
new glasses..
ryan. attempting to be thug..
yogurt bliss. and more yogurt bliss.
please take note.. kassie has hand sanitizer. that never happens.

this summer has been out of this world.

Saturday, August 21

whirlwind of two weeks.

i would be willing to bet a high five that i have been around the school for at least the equivalent of two days, within the last two weeks.
thats like.. 48 hours. of school. and it hasn't even started!
its hard work. but i enjoy it.

listen up people: we are seniors. cheers to 2011.

[exciting prospects for senior year] and school in general:
..when i walk through the halls, there will actually be people there!
.. we get to mingle in the senior hallway, with out getting strange looks from people two feet taller than us. (well.. that could still be my case.)
.. welcome week. J.wride is coming, and i'm stoked out of my mind about it.
.. football games. volleyball games. tennis matches. golf tournaments. cross country meets. school plays. i'm going to them all, anyone want to join me??
.. we get front part of the bleachers. because we are watching the other seniors play.
.. we set the trends! lets wear crazy decked out viking outfits, cause no one will make fun of us!
.. sophomores, will most likely get intimidated. i'm going to meet them all, and show them that seniors really aren't that scary.
.. we have a, somewhat secret new tradition, that we are revealing for welcome week. i am itching to get it started. it should be soo much fun!
.. couch potatoes.
.. halloween & christmas.
..winter clothing.

[my goals for senior year.]
.. learn all 1900 students names. i have been told i am never going to do it.. but when i put my mind to things, i can work wonders. help me out, and come introduce yourself.
.. sit at every lunch table.
.. stay on top of the homework.
.. finish my average blog with jess.
.. make breakfast for my family before school. sometimes.
.. meet all different cliques.
.. dates. yes, lots.
.. take awesome pictures.
.. have the best time of my life.

there are lots more.. i just can't think of many at the moment.
i have to go enjoy the last saturday of the summer!

Friday, August 13

lets fight. blue v. white.

tonight. be there. blue and white game. i am stoked out of my mind for football season!

girls soccer games have also started up! we love girls soccer.

sophomore day is well on its way to perfection. and welcome week is coming along quite nicely.

vikettes: 2010-2011. these girls are going to be great. i love them all.

ps. i snagged this picture from facebook. i hope no one minds.

Thursday, August 12

i could defuse a bomb.

I really like this sequence of events:

step one: learn how to control the robot.

step two: move in direction of waterbottle.

step three: pick up waterbottle.

step four: give Jared a drink from water botte...
while using the insanely cool robotic arm that you
just mastered.

this is the award-winning best picture from freedom academy.

congratulations Landon from Alta. You also get the 'tried hardest at learning how to spit' award.

Sunday, August 1

first loser.

check out this cool viking i found.. i like it.

what a week. let me set up this scene for you.

triple crown world series: one of the biggest softball tournaments in utah. It takes place in Park city, where girls from all over the western USA gather to try to compete. this tournament takes a week to unfold and has traditions such as trading pins and gifts. its kind of a big deal.

once upon a time, back in the good old days when we used to play 12 and under and life was carefree, we had a little dream team. we were called Devastation and it was just some team from pleasant grove utah. we played our first four pool games... and lost every single one. we set out to win one game, then the next. and before we knew it, we were in the championship. and WON IT. we won the triple crown world series 12u silver bracket tournament. we were even on the news.

this week: i'm playing with a new team and new girls .. same tournament. we won 3 out of 4 of our pool games. which means we would be placed in the gold A bracket. where all the ballers go. we battled all week... and made it to the ship, as the undefeated team. But, guess who we had to play? oh yeah. S.W.A.T. just another team from utah, where half the girls on my team go to the same high school as them.

long story short, (although, its quite a long story already.) they beat us twice. and we got plaques that said: Triple Crown World Series 16u Gold A bracket.. finalist.

i. hate. taking. second.

on the bright side, in 30 minutes i am heading to freedom academy, leadership camp.

i'm stoked out of my mind.

pros: i get to meet loads of new people. i get to tour the prison. i get to spend a week partying with sam. i get to be a military.. person. i get to stay at a military base. i get to shoot guns and drive tanks. i get to tour airplanes. i get to dance. and did i say meet new people?

cons: i don't know any girls going, so the rooming is nerve wracking. i don't know what to expect... therefore, i don't know what to wear.

yay. for freedom academy.

don't forget about me for a week.

viking tid-bit.

urban dictionary definition of viking:
hard core warriors... superior to pirates. equal to ninjas.

thanks urban dictionary for being such an educational source.
though, i do have to agree with this definition.

this is my softball team: eclipse. isn't this the coolest picture ever? they photoshopped all of our singles together.. to make a team picture. i want to learn how to do stuff like this.

i love playing with this team. they are de best. but... i am super missing my girls. i want high school ball to start.

dixie survival 101

i made one of these for everyone as we went to dixie. If you would like a spirit sack.. just holler. you can fill it yourself.. cause it took me a while. the best part is the shakers. we put in water bottles. and aquarium rocks. and it created noise makers. best invention, i'd say.

p.s. if you have suggestions for
school year activities. or themes
or even if a strange idea just
strikes your fancy. please.
comment. comment. comment.

Sunday, July 25

5 hours at the school? easy.

Like I said. i live at the school. today, from the hours of 9-2:30 I, lifted, had a meeting, and cleared out the back room. it is quite the miracle. the floor is spotless and we had at least 4 loads of trash. we threw out junk that had been there since 1916. i feel accomplished. just wait for the pictures after we have decorated it.
its official: sophomore day is going to rock the hollywood theme. i'm basically dying until it gets here.
and apparently the district has a party for all the teachers? can teachers party? i guess we'll see.
You see that boy, #13? His names Mickell Walker. he was in my homeward and just got back from a mission. i went to his farewell yesterday in fact. apparently he was a lax legend for the vikings. and is going to play at BYU. kind of a big deal.

I also found this one, titled: Ryan Moon for the goal.

ryan rocks.

Go viking lacrosse.

reestablishment.

Quite a big word. I understand.
As you can see the blog is, yet again, being redone. but because of the fact that i have a miniscule amount of followers so i am mainly writing to myself, i feel that i can change it often. no one will get fussy. I am hoping to write more regularly with this newly constructed blog so that people may find it a source of entertainment. but, whether it does or not i write for my own pleasure anyway. so i might as well write about what i know best. the vikings.

pleasant grove high consumes the majority of my life. multiple times a day i am either brainstorming, researching or writing down things for the senior high. i also dont believe i could count the amount of hours i spend there. if all goes according to plan i will be sleeping in the tunnels under the stage just to make it easier for myself. my parents already claim i have moved out. but it is all for a good cause, and i enjoy it.

i am mainly going to be writing my personal point of view on going ons at the high school. none of it will be negative, because then that would mean that there were negative comments i could make. i am here to tell you they are non-existant. everything from here until next year at this time are going to be insanely amazing. i cant wait for senior year to start (as i expressed in my previous post.) and i can't wait for things to get rolling. not to fret, you will still get stories from my personal life. because i just enjoy sharing.

first status update: a new principal is making his way to viking country. his name is Tim Brantley. i have only had the opportunity to meet him once. (I'm crossing my fingers this will change tomorrow.) but he seems like an awesome guy! i have heard nothing but good from everyone who has come in contact with him. I am sure he has big plans for us and don't you worry, student council has big plans for him.
we also are getting ALL new counselors to go along with our brand new system skyward. it may be bumpy getting used to it all at first but im sure we will get into the groove.
Sophomore day is rolling out quite nicely. I kind of wish i was fresh from junior high again, just so i could experience all the fun that they are going to have.

school countdown?: one. month. =31 days.

Saturday, July 24

warning: one month until our lives are taken over.

WHAT.
school is in a month from today. i thought it would be right to do a post dedicated to this quickly approaching date.

cons: homework. what? i am going to be soo busy anyways. with all the student council responsibility, softball, school spirit and classes i am going to be swamped. i have a feeling sleep is going to take the back seat this year.
drama. as much as you try to avoid it, this is high school we are talking about people.
i am just fired up for the opportunity to wake up at 6:15 in the morning. and even worse: we have to get cute at that time. the sun isn' t even up yet.
we have to be ready with our sophomore day, welcome week, and year plan. in one month.
i'm kinda freaking out. just a little.

pros: social. all the way. I am having a hard time without being surrounded by my peers. its also really hard to plan events for everyone when you can't see them. it feels quite pointless.
I am stoked for student council this year. it is going to be bomb-diggity. i really couldn't have asked for better people! also softball is going to kill. we have awesome girls who have played together forever.
games. i am so excited for football and basketball games. we are seniors and we are going to get there hours early. we better have so much pride in our school this year. i have a feeling that our year, totally will.
i am peeing my pants to get my dancing shoes on. party it up. all. year. long. that should be my motto.
we are going to make memories. like the years past.

I'm mostly excited for school to start. but believe me, I'm willing to wait.

question: i'm kinda considering making this
like a behind the scenes of student council blog,
where i just talk about ideas and what we're doing
and such. what do you think?

Thursday, July 22

creeper anyone?

last night i had quite the traumatic experience. i will further explain:

Lets set up this scene; wednesday night and i just got done playing with some friends. its about 12:20 because I'm usually a bit late. I'm a party animal. Okay, so I was half asleep. After 10 my body shuts down and i just pretend I'm a party animal. Whitney and I decided to carpool because gas prices are outrageous these days. We cruise out front of my house where my mom has left the front door open for me. I run up to the door with my skippy run like I've practiced since I was an adolescent. When whitney just happens to break my little routine. She yelled my name sounding quite frantic. I ran back to the car expecting her to tell me that i dropped my phone or left some change. These were her exact words: watch out for that creepy guy in the car across the street. He's just staring at your house... [pause] go to your front door. run.
my heart was all the sudden pounding in my head. i was freaked. I went in and alerted my parents to the situation. we continued to check out there, and he left 15 minutes later. after getting out of his car to do, who knows what. I am not too proud to admit i slept on the floor of my parents room until 3 in the morning.

It was probably nothing. but i do believe something fishy is going on at the house across the street. its empty and if that alone isnt freaky enough, there are always different people there.
I feel like I'm in a horror movie.

Wednesday, July 21

want a good laugh?

watch this video.
thanks to MLIA blog.
it is quite hilarious.
i like the monkey dentist.

Sunday, July 11

i am alive, and breathing. in the past 3 weeks i have cliff jumped from 30ft, battled people on the softball field, braved a haunted house in the forest mountains of new york, caught a firefly, watched the irish go 9-1 in cooperstown and stood in the sacred grove.
i should be ready for a break, you say? bring it on st. george. i'm ready to party.
until friday, dont forget me,
kati.

haha, love it.
my summer has been quite the adventure.
but i have a feeling it is just getting started.

maybe i will sum it up for you when i get back..
miss you already!
