functional & cute.

coat hangers/ hooks are my new favorite design item.
they can hold and organize. plus be cute. like these ones in my bathroom:

sorry.. hard to see.

i just like them.. for keys, hats, jewelry.. I want to make some for my scarves.. that goes vertical.
maybe one day I can get good at wood working.

Thursday, January 27

There's a place off ocean avenue.

...where I used to sit and talk with you.

sometimes I wish things didn't change.
I wish that it could be sophomore day all over again, where we got the butterflies because we were meeting oak canyon kids. and moving up in the world.
I wish that people didn't get bored of the way things were.
I wish we could rewind time and remember exact conversations.
I wish life would just be happy and go your way all the time.
I wish grades didn't matter and college didn't exist.

somedays I just wish things would just stay the same.

paper faces on parade.

or this?

Well get ready for this:

oh, and this:

In my dreams I keep hearing,
I am your angel of music...

a vote is in order.

I found this super cute valentines day garland at tatertots and jello. My favorite craft blog.
and I need input on where to put it!

Option #1: Kitchen Mantle
or option #2: Fireplace.

Please help me out!

thanks to Cora Anne Designs for the awesome idea!
this was so easy, finished in 45 minutes while watching Hook at the same time.
If you're looking for a quick something to toss around for valentines day,
and you have a sewing machine handy, try it out!

Oh! and look what came for me in the mail today!
(jealous right? I love vinyl.)

guess how many friends i get when i do this? paper towels.

As I was getting ready for the day today,
(at noon of course... I am a teenager and it is saturday.)
I noticed how hard it was to find anything in my drawer so I pulled all the contents out onto my counter, and it looked like hurricane Charlie had plowed through my loo.
anyone who has this same unorganized problem say, I.
This would have been a typical day if I didn't decide to do something about it.
but instead I pulled out my trusty hot glue gun, and jumped online.
(sorry I am not recognizing my sources, I found so many sites with very similar tutorials and just kind of meshed them together to create my own! so I give credit to all those crafty bloggers with messy bathroom drawers!)
What I used: hot glue gun, ribbon, paper towels (who would have thought right?) and some cute mustard yellow paper. all found around my house.
I didn't document making it, because it took two seconds!
just glue the paper around the roll, cut out two circles for the ends and smooth the edges with your ribbon! This could totally be made elegant by the kind of paper you use, or I even saw some really fun ones that looked like rolled candy.
seriously. and look how cute and organized!
my drawer suddenly doubled in size! I have way too much room.
I love it and highly advise taking 15 minutes to whip this up instead of taking 15 minutes to find a headband in the morning.

now for that horrible ribbon bucket... any ideas?

we're the kids of america. whoa oh.

I have been overdosing on thoughts of the future.
considering that at this time next year I will be at college and living on my own.
and everything will be different.

So I've thought a lot about my future home.
and because I am in such a design/craft mode,
here is what it [the living room.] will look like:

sage green. I have always imagined my living room this color.
peaceful.

It will have the cutest little quaint chandelier.
not the kind that make it feel formal,
but the kind that make it feel stylish and homie.

I think there will be some argyle up somewhere.
I just really like it.
Anything distressed, it will match the brown couch.

Antique globes, books, newspapers, mirrors.
maybe even an antique piano would be nice.

small and cosy.
with a white picket fence.

on my own

Here is my playlist, which I may or may not belt out in the car when I have no one to talk to:

Our song- Taylor swift
One day more- Les Miserables
We built this city- Starship
Waka waka- Shakira
Mean- T Swift.
Mine- ditto.
I'll Be- Edwin McCain
Anabelle- A rocket to the moon.
Boys of fall- Kenny Chesney
Magic- B.O.B
Rain is a good thing- Luke Bryan
Story of a girl- 3 doors down.
Love like woe- The ready set
Drops of Jupiter- Train

**I have gotten strange looks from fellow drivers with every one of these songs, most likely.

I am going craft crazy.

I have found all these super cute craft blogs and I am getting so ambitious.
I want to make something like this:
(found here.)

or this:
(found here.)

or especially this one:
(found here.)

I am going to do it.

Thursday, January 13

heidi.

yes she is real.
a cross-eyed possum.
the germans make fun of her.
and make up songs on you tube.
but I think she is so ugly..she's kind of cute.

Wednesday, January 12

because i'm a senior

"I'm an adult so I can do what I want.
I could... party all night.
I could... destroy a hotel room.
I could... take a nap.
Hmmm... what am I going to choose?
I think I'll take a nap."
-The rocker. (roughly from memory.)

I thought about this today and here is my version:

"Hey mom, I'm a senior now so I'm like independent & I can do what I want.
I could... go to a movie on a school night.
I could... go find some trouble around town.
or I could go to sleep at 9 at night.
Hmm.. hard decision. which one will I choose?
I think I will go to sleep at 9. "

try convincing me to do something else, I'm a teenager. and I won't listen.

Tuesday, January 11

food is good.

like this...
or this.

Monday, January 10

racecar.

interesting fact: today is a palindrome.
1- 10- 2011
then when you write it backward,
1102011
1102011

birthday boys: a double feature.

Its like a birthday fiesta.

Jan 9th: Daddy Travis Briggs.
Jan 10th: Tate'r-tot' Briggs.

Today marks the day my little kid brother is no longer my little kid brother.
does it make me sad? yes. *picture taken one year ago.
Age: 13 today.
size: 5'5"
Favorites: football, baseball, basketball, (anything with a ball.) video games, cheesecake, girls... classic boy.
quirks: gets super fussy unless fully satisfied with food and sleep, will wake up at 7 a.m. without a clock. avid steelers fan and had osgenslaughters... (totally killed that.)
Memories: Tate is probably my best friend. today I brought him donuts and I hope I embarrassed him a little bit. I love our long talks and our days at the rec center messing around. We are always airplane buddies and get competitive playing board games.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TATE!

My dad also had a birthday yesterday, though he was in tennessee so we are having a celebration today.
Age: 29 again.
size: 5'8"
Favorites: Baseball, football, skiing, golf, spaghetti, tortillas, TV and cars.
Quirks: doesn't like to share food, likes watching his TV loud, hates flying, hits a baseball left handed, cut & colors hair, collects Rocco Baldelli baseball cards.
memories: My dad is one of the most hip guys around. He has always been the one to cut my hair and the one I have gone to for outfit advice. He is on a first name basis with the high school baseball team and loves to come to any sporting event possible. he has always been my favorite coach.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!

what girls want.

Why are you trying so hard to fit in? when you were born to stand out.

chain smokers unite.

I love seeing this when I drive to school.

today was filled with tissues and my purple bathrobe. OJ & dayquil. sleeping and chick flicks.

I hate being sick. What do you turn to when you're sick?

Wednesday, January 5

name this movie.

do you have a girl friend?

are you writing anybody?

do you have a sister?

do you even like girls?

Sunday, January 2

a scroll down memory lane...

because 2010 has come to a close, I thought I would give 10* good memories from the year:
*just a sidenote: it is also my 101 post!
Les Mis. Probably the best high school production.. ever produced.
Jessie and I, belted these songs in the car for months after.

California with the family, there is no place like disney.
I boogie boarded, shopped, & met my gay peter pan friend
Softball. oh the memories.
not to worry, we will get murray this year.
Macs last year, popcorning, Makell shannon being inducted into the crew
all-star, beano, gangster jade and kati. throwing weights around.
literally.
basically.. we're the bomb.

elections & election week.
basically the scariest and most nerve wracking week of my life.
making a fool out of myself while trying to answer an on-the-spot question.
going to cafe rio.. but not eating anything because of nerves.
and crying in front of the student body at the stomp.

Freedom Academy & Dixie.
leadership conferences are the best.
meeting the mountain view kids & Sadie.
my future college roomie.

Blacklight stomp. FTW, to kick off the year.
whitney and I love to dress up.

Homecoming week: student council hell week.
crying for no reason besides you've been at the school for 17 hours.
watching the G light up and taking our hikers hot cocoa.
(this picture is shauna being sandwiched by zach and danny after the 2hr pageant.)

HAWAII.
cruise, snorkeling, surfing.
what else needs to be said?

senior life.
senior year came so fast, I just can't even believe its halfway over.
so involved.
angel tree.
samuel norton.. riding a pink bike.
shopping for 4 hours, getting our B's on, and missionary experiences.
service.

so there you have it. obviously this is not a list of the best things that happened... just most of them. because if it was the best it would definitely include: graduation, girls nights, summer, fremont football game, harry potter 7 and christmas.

I can only hope that 2011 provides the same amount of fun I had this year.
get ready for a year full of change.

this doesn't really have anything to do with this post.. I just found humor in it.
